Today's music industry is suffering from the invasion of free music on the internet. There are two ways of dealing with this problem. The first way is to be conservative and to fight against piracy by laws and to forbid every music lover of using this easy way of listening to the music. The second way is to deal with this new vibe and to use the newest technologies to spread music worldwide.

As a young and unknown band we've decided that spreading our music for free on the internet would be the best way, for our first cd, to reach as much as people as possible. Now we have 500 real cds and even if we would sell them all, we would only reach 500 people. If we're lucky, we get one or two e-mails from fans in other countries that want to buy our cd and that would be it. The work of more than one year, the work we're all proud of would be in the hands of 500 people.

Why don't we get a label or a distribution deal? Well, you have to put yourself in the minds of these labels. Investing money in a small and unknown band as ControlState is a big risk, even if they like our music. It's understandable they can only take this risk, if they are quite sure they get their money back. That's why we didn't want to take these first label offers. The risk we take by putting money in the cd, together with the label is as big or maybe bigger than the risk we take now.

By putting our music free on the internet we can reduce pressing and distribution costs. We can reach people all over the world. We can reach young people who don't have the money to pay for our cd. We can reach people who don't care for the cd, but still like the music. People that won't take the step of sending an e-mail to a foreign band and paying for the shipment. Another advantage is that we do not have to ship the cd taking the risk that it never arrives.

By your subscription on the website for downloading the cd, you will be added to our fanbase and we will know your name and your interest in us. This is great to keep in touch with interested people, knowing that you took the step of downloading our cd.

So what about the cd itself? Can you also buy a hard copy? The answer is yes. We have the cd, it will cost you 8 EUR for 10 songs. It will also give you access to a special area on the website where we will supply you with metal meaning new releases, videos and other great stuff.
